Company and insolvency law

Business and company and association law go hand in hand. Portelio provides advice to both start-ups and established businesses in all aspects of company and association law. We guide you through the choice of the form of company, the drawing up of the articles of association and the associated shareholders' agreement, the implementation of financing transactions and the issuing of securities. Portelio also assists you in the process of (family) succession in a business or in the event of a takeover or transfer of a company, a trading enterprise, a sector or specific assets. We also advise you in case of company and association disputes and assist you in conducting negotiations, mediation or legal proceedings. Several of our lawyers have first-hand management experience and are academically active in this field, on which they regularly publish and give lectures.
Companies are regularly confronted with liquidity or solvency problems, either within their own company or with their business partners. Portelio has the necessary expertise to provide its clients with optimum support in such situations. In consultation with your financial advisers, we provide assistance with restructuring, including protection against creditors, where necessary, in the context of a judicial reorganisation procedure. Two of our partners, mr. Matthias Gesquière and mr. Andy Beeckwee, have been appointed as receivers at the Enterprise Court Ghent and also act as liquidator and provisional administrator of businesses.
